“Album Of The Day” is a Last Rites Facebook feature we started whose purpose is quite straight-forward: highlight one album per day and say a few words about it. Understanding that not everyone chooses to participate in the booking of faces, we thought it might be nice to toss in a feature that gathers the albums in a single piece on a weekly basis.
Here are the seven albums we picked for the week of July 14th — July 20th.
Sunday, July 14th
Last Rites’ Album Of The Day // HAIKU EDITION
Satyricon – Now, Diabolical (2006)
Catchiest trip to
A black metal arena
And “To the Mountains”
Monday, July 15th
Heathen – Victims Of Deception (1991)
More tech, longer songs;
still speedy, kick-ass thrashing.
Underrated band.
Tuesday, July 16th
Last Rites’ Album Of The Day // HAIKU EDITION
Fukpig – Belief is the Death of Intelligence (2010)
Subtlety is for
Assholes. Fukpig’s scuzzy black
Grind is for lovers.
Wednesday, July 17th
Last Rites’ Album Of The Day // HAIKU EDITION
Celtic Frost – Monotheist (2006)
Sure it’s too long, but
“Synagoga Satanae”
Is pure Tom G gold
Thursday, July 18th
Last Rites’ Album Of The Day // HAIKU EDITION
Fastway – Trick or Treat (1986)
Trick or Treat the film:
Not much to write home about
The soundtrack rules, though
Friday, July 19th
Last Rites’ Album Of The Day // HAIKU EDITION
Motörhead – 1916 (1991)
Lemmy and the boys
kicking ass and taking names,
like they always do.
Saturday, July 20th
Gorement – The Ending Quest (1994)
A true shame that this
Brilliant, melodic death jewel
Remains so unknown.
