“Album Of The Day” is a Last Rites Facebook feature we started whose purpose is quite straight-forward: highlight one album per day and say a few words about it. Understanding that not everyone chooses to participate in the booking of faces, we thought it might be nice to toss in a feature that gathers the albums in a single piece on a weekly basis.
Here are the seven albums we picked for the week of September 1st — September 7th // HAIKU EDITION
Sunday, September 1st
Shok Paris – Steel and Starlight (1987)
On tap for today
Classic Cleveland USPM
Hix’s voice is key
Monday, September 2nd
Malign – Fireborn EP (1998)
It was Labor Day
We didn’t do anything
Here’s a Malign song
Tuesday, September 3rd
Amorphis – Elegy (1996)
Herein lie the roots
Of the modern Amorphis
It just took a while
Wednesday, September 4th
Negură Bunget – Om (2006)
Primal, dark and lush
Om is a progressive classic
Born from fertile soil
Thursday, September 5th
The Dillinger Escape Plan & Mike Patton – Irony is a Dead Scene (2002)
Dillinger’s best work
And high up for Patton too
Good dogs do bad things
Friday, September 6th
Blind Guardian – Imaginations from the Other Side (1995)
Blind Guardian’s best?
It’s a fun debate to have
While strumming a lute
Saturday, September 7th
Revelation – For the Sake of No One (2009)
The most chill of dooms
Proggy but with riffs that weap
Float in the “Vigil”
